Why green waste needs its own plan
Yard debris behaves differently from household junk. Branches and brush are awkward and springy, so they take up a lot of space unless you cut them down. Leaves and grass clippings compact easily but can hold moisture. Soil, sod, and landscape rock are extremely heavy for their size. A yard waste dumpster rental in Pomeroy, WA works best when the container size reflects which of these you are dealing with.
Storm cleanups usually involve limbs and brush, which call for more volume. Landscape renovations may add sod and soil, which call for careful attention to weight. Tell us what the project involves and we will suggest the right approach.
Getting the most from each yard of space
Cut branches into shorter lengths and lay them flat rather than tossing them in at angles. Place heavier stumps and logs at the bottom, then layer lighter brush on top. Break up root balls where possible. Bagging is not required for loose green waste, but bagged leaves can make loading faster.
Keep the load at or below the top rim. Springy brush has a tendency to rise above the edge, so pressing it down as you go helps keep the container transportable.

Materials to watch
Many disposal facilities handle clean green waste separately from general trash, which is why mixing yard debris with household junk can change how a load is processed. If you plan to combine them, ask us first. Treated lumber from old garden beds, railroad ties, and plastic edging are not green waste and may be handled differently.
Chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers should never go in the container. Keep them for a household hazardous waste program.
Placement that protects your lawn
A loaded container and the truck that carries it can leave ruts in soft ground, especially after rain. A driveway or other hard surface is the safest spot. Boards under the container rails help spread weight on pavement. Make sure low branches and wires will not obstruct the truck when it lifts the container.
